Yeah. I’ve made my own salad dressings forever because I don’t like a lot of the store-bought ingredients. Considering I don’t want my salads to be super calorie-dense, I only use like 10 -15% oil.
My dream is to be sent a monkey and a plywood violin…and then practice every night until I’m ready.

SOB_Van_Owen@lemm.eeto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What subreddit are you trying to replace on Lemmy that needs pumping up?7·2 months agoYes! Lots of folks with chronic illness find themselves in a limbo where they can’t get decent treatment or often precise diagnosis. Crowdsourcing relief has mixed results, but in such circumstances reports of rigorous trial and error with various approaches is sometimes helpful in the absence of the sort of care a lot of Americans now can’t even hope for. I know this because I’ve been there. CIDP here since 2010.
Are you me?
There’s that possibly apocryphal story in The Fly reboot with Jeff Goldblum about how Einstein had like seven identical sets of clothes so he didn’t have to waste effort on deciding what to wear.

Almost all of them seem to have a religious bend. They inscribe bible verses around your cup like some kind of incantation. Would bet it’s store policy and not just them wanting to inject gospel into your day. Is coffee even mentioned in the Bible?

When folks see me out doing something challenging, they tend to assume I’m just fine and must be some shiftless malingerer. Rather than understanding I’ve sunk a lot of time and preparation into trying to be ok for that occasion.

Was just having a conversation about the phrase “selling out”. Seems you don’t hear it used much anymore. I reckon that’s because the concept is seen as more of a life skill now than some despicable practice. But I feel sure it would be argued I’m just jealous of those sweet living wages.
If you haven’t already you may wish to read The Humanure Handbook by Joe Jenkins. It outlines a practical diy composting toilet system that is low-odor and sanitary when maintained properly.
